Born in the Downriver suburbs of Detroit, actress and singer Valerie Meachum grew up an Air Force brat, logging fifteen addresses by age twelve. She taught herself to read at three and was identified early as an academically gifted child. Dance, music and drama presented the challenges missing in her regular schoolwork, and by her teens she was determined to pursue a performing career. She made her professional theatre debut as Sarah in Female Transport during a semester break from college, and has pursued her dream through all the ups and downs since.

She made her movie debut as the heroic Dr. Tami Bark in the Japanese-style monster feature Raki II: Raki vs. Nemesis, which has been featured at G-Fest, the leading American festival celebrating the kaiju genre.  Recently she has kept busy in front of the camera with a variety of roles for up-and-coming Chicago filmmakers, and is now venturing into the evolving world of new media, with a leading role in the supernatural action-drama web series Scarlet X and involvement in the development of the ambitious sci-fi transmedia project Resonance.

Valerie’s stage career has ranged from children’s theatre to Shakespeare to musicals to new plays, with favorite roles including Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing, Sabina in The Skin of Our Teeth, the Fox in Pinocchio, Caroline Neville in Titanic, and Lucy Hale in the world premiere of These Honorable Men: The Life and Death of John Wilkes Booth. She has also worked behind the scenes of numerous plays as a costume designer and fight choreographer, and has directed successful productions of The Crucible,Macbeth, and Cymbeline.

Now based in the Chicago area, Valerie finds time between acting gigs to sing regularly with Elgin Opera and in casual cabaret evenings at Villa Verone Ristorante Italiano. She is developing a one-woman show about Pre-Raphaelite artist and model Elizabeth Siddal, and the century-old farmhouse she shares with her husband is a work perpetually in progress.

In a world where getting lost in the madness of self-indulgence and neglect runs rampant, Kevin Miller (Andrew Jacob DeHart) is about to reach the ultimate breaking point. Unseen and Unheard by his father (Walt Sloan) and tormented by his peers, it often seems that his Mother (Francine Locke) is the only person who truly hears him. When she grows powerless to cradle her own child safely in a cruel world, Kevin contemplates putting an end to his own existence and leaving behind the words that he can only express to his diary. Albert Mullin is on the prowl, again. This time he finds himself haunted down by his own ravaging demons. His house, a dumping ground of horrors, is no longer the safe haven he thought it was, and his new victim, Sarah Wilson, may be his last. But while she lies tied up in Albert’s house, the outside world spins its own web of deceit. Parole officer Michael Harris is too busy negotiating himself out of his own extramarital affairs to see through Albert’s dark secrets. Darryl, Albert’s neighbor, cries wolf at every turn and no one pays attention, when, perhaps, this time they should. All have a small part to play on this, the hottest, deadliest day of the summer.

Molested by a family member at an early age, Kelly (Laura Locascio) has spent a lifetime harboring her painful memories and being haunted by her own sub-conscious visions. When she can no longer deal with her self-torment, she seeks the help of a therapist in Dr. Jones (Michael Schmid), who assists in arranging a confrontation with her molester (Walt Sloan) to hopefully provide a sense of closure. Is this the day where her life will change forever?  

‘Hand of Glory’ tells the story of Joseph, a lonely delivery man that falls in love with an alcoholic prostitute named Karen, who frequents one of the stops along his route. Though they soon become friends, Joseph is unable to figure out what makes the very-guarded Karen tick. While Karen drowns the sorrows of her mysterious past, keeping him at bay, Joseph remains committed to winning her affection, resorting to extreme measures in his search for the key to her heart. Embarking on a dark journey with a mystical relic–a ‘hand of glory,’ whose legend purports the ability to unlock any door–Joseph soon discovers that such feats come at a dire price.
