The Prairie State Film Festival was founded in 2011 by Willy Adkins & Spook Show Entertainment (producers of The Chicago Horror Film Festival,  The Indie Horror Film Festival and The Laugh or Die Comedy Festival).  This multi-genre film festival is an international film festival offering awards in several categories, and include one award dedicated to films made at least in part in the great state of Illinois! The 2012 event takes place on Saturday August 11th at The Portage Theater in Chicago IL! Adkins notes, “We started this great event at The House Cafe in 2011.  This year we are moving the event to Chicago and in 2013, we plan to grow the event to a 3 day festival”.

The festival is scheduled to start at 10am and is open to all ages (however most indie films are unrated and may contain adult language / situations / horror elements, Viewer discretion is advised). The Portage Theater is located at 4050 N. Milwaukee Ave in Chicago IL 60641. The Portage Theater also offers great food and drinks (including beer, wine & mixed drinks for patrons 21+). Admission to the festival is only $16 ($13 via online ticket form) and is open for film submissions via withoutabox.com!
